The Clavier Project

Project details

A virtual exchange connecting students of French at the University of Warwick with students learning English in Clermont Ferrand. The project uses formal and informal learning opportunities to connect and learn from each other. The project started in 2011.


All participants are connected through the Languages@Warwick portal which has integrated tools for interaction including :

Blackboard Collaborate voice tools, live classrooms and Instant Messenger

Kaltura video streaming

mahara e-portfolio tool


They are encouraged to use social media to connect outside the platform and use Facebook, Google +, Instagram, Twitter etc using #warcler (posts in English) #clerwar (posts in French).


The #clavier project continues to grow and spread, withother practitioners taking a keen interest. Growth of the teacher educator community around this project was recently investigated and presented at Eurocall 2014 and in September at ALT-C.
